Christmas and Easter both have pagan origins and were adapted over time. Take away Merry Christmas and people will still find ways to celebrate the joy of the season. I’m not against saying Merry Christmas, but I am more likely to say Happy Holidays because it’s more inclusive of all the holidays celebrated. The magic of the season isn’t about Christmas itself but about the traditions we form around it— traditions that often pre-date Christianity, like putting up a tree.
