I agree, but it helps to make our own decisions based on what’s best for us and not what’s dictated by a culture that doesn’t care about our safety, comfort, or wellbeing. I’m not suggesting that this one change can eradicate a culture, but I am saying that we need to examine how influenced we are by that culture and how it contributes to upholding it. Continuing to promote modesty culture isn’t helping eradicate rape culture. Confronting the double standards and victim blaming mentality are necessary parts of changing the culture.
