I agree. Loving ourselves is such a game changer. Instead of sitting around disappointed year after year, we communicate what we expect, and if our partners can't meet us there, we leave with the understanding that they can't meet our needs. I finally got to that point, but for years, I was that woman with the sad heart and empty stocking who tried so hard to make everyone else's Christmas wishes come true while my partner ignored mine completely.
