I believe your mother is right about men and women. We either mature or age--but those two things don't always go together.

Insecurity and immaturity may be behind the term, but it continues to perpetuate rape culture. The more we talk about it, the better chance we have of changing that culture. I would love to see a shift toward treating other people as humans rather than objects. Perhaps normalizing therapy and mental health will help more people get help to reach a place of emotional maturity and security. Thanks so much for reading!
