I cannot speak outside my experience, but I can say that the term MILF is offensive, degrading, objectifying, and misogynistic. No one is getting upset about degrading porn because this article isn't about porn. It's about systemic oppression of women within a patriarchal society and how rape culture continues to perpetuate harm and violence against women. Yes, every man (and woman) should keep in check any impulse that harms other people. It is entirely possible to be a highly sexual being without being a highly offensive one.
