I tend to have positive associations with social media--primarily because I've relocated often over the years, and it's a great way to stay connected to people I care about who live at a distance. But I'm also mindful of the content I follow.
For me, Instagram is the most positive space because I can follow dog accounts, home decor, food porn, or whatever makes me happy. I see far less drama there. Twitter often strikes me as the most negative--mostly because the trending topics are rarely positive. On Facebook, I have to be particularly selective about the content I choose to see, unfollowing and unfriending when necessary and keeping pages that enrich my life in my feed.
I definitely think we need to make conscious choices when using social media rather than getting sucked into the vortex. Great read!
