I'm having the same experience. This has been my full-time income as a single parent. Now, I'm picking up part-time jobs and paid content work wherever I can just to barely make ends meet. I'm also having my lowest month in 6 years. The only one lower was my first month on Medium. I don't feel like my quality is the issue. I'm not getting the reach I once did despite approaching 25K followers. It's disheartening because I've worked years building my audience and my craft.

What I once loved about Medium is that the platform treated our work as deserving of pay like any other. Now, it really is catering to untrained hobbyists and people who constantly update us on how much they're making on the platform. I don't consider that quality content.

Do you or any of the other writers have ideas of other platforms that actually pay writers consistently? I'm still writing as consistently as I always have, but this $5 and $10 per article situation isn't worth it. My work is worth far more, as is yours.

I think Medium forgets that their profit is dependent on people like us, and people like us aren't going to stick around and write for free out of loyalty that the platform isn't showing us.
