Being framed is a popular film and book trope that is only enjoyable from the perspective of being an audience member. One of my favorite frame jobs is in The Maltese Falcon, a 1941 film starring Humphrey Bogart. It’s based on the novel by Dashiell Hammett, and I don’t remember how closely the film adheres to the dialogue from the book, but it’s got some of the best lines- in my opinion- in film history.
