Try reading this without your preconceived idea of what this article is about. Clearly, it’s talking about men who use feminism as an excuse not to observe basic courtesies, those who go out of their way to avoid them and claim it’s to avoid offense. I’ve repeatedly advocated for universal courtesy here — especially as not all couples are male and female. Hence, when in doubt, open the damn door.

I’m not ashamed of this, and I am a feminist. I believe empowered women empower women, not criticize and demean based on reading their work through a filter. Again, the entire article encourages equal courtesy, particularly in dating. I can smash the patriarchy and still not be offended when a door is held open because my partner got to it first.
